Tree removal

Safe, controlled takedowns of dead, dangerous or unwanted trees — across Enfield, North London and Hertfordshire.

If a tree is dead, structurally unsound, badly diseased, or in the wrong place, removing it is sometimes the only sensible option. We do it cleanly: planned access, controlled drops or sectional dismantling, brash chipped, logs stacked or taken away.

When you might need a tree removed

  • The tree is dead or dying and dropping limbs.
  • It's leaning, lifted or has cracks at the base — a clear failure risk.
  • Disease (honey fungus, ash dieback, Massaria) has made it unsafe.
  • It's too close to the house, drains or a boundary and was planted in the wrong place.
  • You're building, extending or re-landscaping.

Not every problem needs a removal. If it can be saved with a reduction, a thinning or some deadwooding, we'll tell you.

How we do it

1. Site survey & quote

We come and look at the tree, the access, what's underneath it (greenhouse? cars? conservatory?), and any TPOs or conservation-area constraints. You get a clear written quote with what's included.

2. Permissions

If the tree has a Tree Preservation Order, or sits in a conservation area, we submit the application on your behalf and wait for the council before starting.

3. Set-up & access

Drop zones taped off, neighbours notified where needed, parking suspensions arranged if the chipper or tipper needs space on a controlled street.

4. The takedown

Where there's a clean drop, we'll fell. More often — especially in gardens — we climb and dismantle in sections, lowering each piece on ropes. No drops onto lawns, fences or roofs.

5. Clear-up

All brash through the chipper, logs stacked where you want them or taken off-site, ground swept. Stump left for grinding if booked.

What it costs

Tree removal is priced per job — there's no honest "from £X" we can quote without seeing it. The main drivers are size, access, what's underneath, and whether the stump is coming out. Most domestic removals are completed in a day.

TPOs and conservation areas

A lot of Enfield, Barnet, Haringey, Highgate and the larger Herts villages sit in conservation areas — and many individual trees have Tree Preservation Orders. We'll check the council records and handle the paperwork. You can't legally remove a TPO'd tree without consent, and the fines are serious.

Frequently asked

Do I need permission to remove my tree?

If the tree is in a conservation area or has a Tree Preservation Order on it, yes — and we'll apply for you. Outside those, you usually don't, but it's worth a quick check, especially in Enfield and Barnet.

Will you take the stump out too?

We can grind it down to about 200–300mm below ground so you can re-turf or plant over it. Full stump excavation (root and all) is also possible but rarely necessary.

What if it's leaning over my neighbour's garden?

It's still your tree and your decision, but we'll usually drop them a note so they're not surprised by chippers on a Tuesday morning.

How quickly can you do it?

Non-urgent jobs are typically scheduled within 2–3 weeks. For storm damage or anything actively dangerous we'll usually get there same week — call us.
